How long before you can put bio oil on scars?

Hi
How long has everyone waited before they put stuff on their scars? The nurse said 'leave it a few weeks' but how long is that? My scars underneath feel really dry and tight and I thought they might feel a bit better if I put something on them (I am 3 weeks 2 days post op and there are no 'open' parts).

The nurse I spoke to seemed to imply that Bio oil is fine and that anything else is just a waste of money but I know some of you girls really rate some other things (rose hip oil, vit E cream?)

.x. ive been using bio oil since 3 weeks post op. I started initially just using it on my boobs but avoiding the scars themselves. Started using it on the scars at 4 weeks xxxxxxxx .x.

I started putting Bio oil on my scars at 3 weeks, would have started b4 but I was a bit lazy Screwy . Aslong as they are fully closed I dont see a problem xx

i started using bio oil after 6 weeks i was told to massage but leave the scars alone till 6 weeks

I was told no oils/lotions/potions on them until after my 6 week check, and even then I may have had to wait if the surgeon wasn't happy with my scars.

I havent really thought about putting bio oil on my scars, i don't mind too much about the colour of them nobody will ever see them lol

I waited until 6 weeks too... I was then completely happy that they were totally healed over.

Hi, I started last week at 4 weeks - as the scars are dry and sealed and can't see that it will be a problem from what I have been reading here .. and i basically got no info from my PS at all (he doesn't believe in arnica and I do) so that says it for me - can't see any difference though ... and i am sure it mainly is just the passage of time. I have ordered some of that Healgel which is supposed to be excellent but they have sold out on the website till 12 June.

I asked my PS about scar treatments and he said they can marginally help, but as ZG said, it's mainly the passage of time and your DNS which affects how your scars will turn out

Mu surgeon said bio oil fine and I have been using it for last thre weeks, I am about 7 weeks post op now! It is supposed to be really good for scars. x
