Suffering with pain Empty Suffering with pain

Post by Smallblue 27th January 2012, 12:31 pm

Under my left breast below and on the incision, behind my ribs and around my left side. It's sore to touch and if I breathe deeply or cough it hurts like hell. I have phoned and left a message for my PS this morning. My healing has been amazing until this week. Im wondering if I've unsettled my healing by having a horrendous constant cough for 3 weeks(easing up now), which jolted my body at the worst possible time and I also have a 2 year old son who needs lifting. Taking painkillers today. My breast feels fine and looks normal. Any advice would be great. Xx

Hey hunni, I'd think as long as there's no redness, it's totally normal, my ribs (under boobies) felt as if they'd been boxed for about 2-3 months honestly. I started wearing underwire bras at 3 months and they STILL were sore . I'd say it was about 4 months until I had absolutely no pain at all on the ribs (even though the boobies felt better earlier than that).

Alexandra so reassuring thank you. Under my PS's advice, I could try underwires if it felt comfortable. I did for a few hours last week but couldn't get on with them and went back to my trusted sports bra's. For now, take each day as it comes I guess. Xx

Hey hun, I also have had some pain under my leftie beside the incision and on the ribs, I am wearing a wired bra today I can still feel soreness like a bruised ribs feeling. I see my surgeon yesterday and he said that everything is absolutely fine :) sounds pretty normal to me hun. Hope the pain subsides for you soon!! I was looking forward to getting in wired bras now I'm actually in one I don't like it. :( feels odd...will have to wean myself back into them slowly. Xxx

Probably just your body telling you, you've over done it a bit, try to rest. Put ice on the sore bits and maybe try some anti inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen

I have the same thing on my left rib small blue. It didn't hurt after surgery but over the last week it has come on and doesn't seem to be changing. The hospital don't seem to think it is an issue but they gave said if it gets a lot worse then to call back. x

Suffering with pain Empty Re: Suffering with pain

Post by Smallblue 28th January 2012, 12:21 pm

Had a bad night with the pain. Even made me cry and I don't cry that easily. It felt like I had been stabbed in the ribs. Took more ibuprofen and managed some more light sleep. Laying down or being elevated in bed seems to make it worse. Once I was up this morning the pain has subsided. Taking ibuprofen and paracemtamol and trying to rest. Hoping I've got to my worst and now can only improve. I have overdone it the past week. Even though the boobs look good on the outside, I had forgotten I'm still healing on the inside. A lesson learnt. Thanks for all the replys. Xx

I also work with young children. Not a great combo! I'm hoping it's more to do with my hacking cough that's bruised my ribs and to top it off it's near my incision and the tender area around that. Xx

Hope you feel better soon SmallBlue. The cough may have inflamed your intercostal muscles so maybe some ibuprofen like misf1 suggested will help. Hope it passes soon.

I think you're on to something there Mozelle. Seems very much the case. The ibuprofen is helping and I'm going to icepack again tonight. Thanks xx

We're in the same boat. I think it will take some time for it to improve. I can cope better this week as its half the pain it was causing me. Just wish my cough would go away. A visit to my GP possibly this week. Take care. Xx
