Lymph node removal Empty Lymph node removal

Post by ann77 8th November 2011, 6:14 pm

I am due to have a couple of lymph nodes removed from my armpits due to leakage of silicone from the implants i had put in 5 years ago. I have seen a surgeon who is willing to change the implants and remove the nodes, but i saw a doctor on the NHS(to check the lumps werent cancerous) and he said i should be careful about having the lymph nodes removed as it can cause a lot of swelling in the arm. So i am just wondering if anyone has had it done and if they had any swelling in the arm and how long it lasted? any info appreciated as i am unsure what to do now.

Hiya! I'm new to this forum and this is one of the questions I was going to ask! Have you found out any more since your first post?

I found out last Wednesday that one of my implants has ruptured and am going to see my original PS next Friday. When I called to make an appointment with him, the lady I spoke to said I may need to have my lymph nodes removed, too... I have since done a bit of desktop research about it and have scared myself to death about having them removed! But then again, I'm really scared about keeping them in as well!! xxx
