Worried about BA affecting breast feeding :(
This is actually my MAIN concern of getting BA done. Do any of you had BA done and then had kids?? Please reassure me that everything's gonna be fine when I have my first baby.

Hun it is probably going to be fine as it's only a small risk that you wont be able to breast feed. But you also have to remember that not everyone can breast feed whether they have a BA or not. out of the 6 friends I have that have children none of them have implants and only 2 of them managed to do it and believe me they tried (one is a nurse and she couldn't).

Re: Worried about BA affecting breast feeding :(
I was talking with my sister and her friend who are both midwive and they had comented on how alot of women with implants couldnt breastfeed for very long. I have breastfeed all my children and I wouldnt recomend it if you really want to breast feed it is what ruined my breast and I would have hated to see how much more damage implants would have caused.
Breastfeeding is beautiful and sometimes hard but if it what you want to do I personaly would advise waiting to get your BA

Your chance of not being able to breast feed after implants is very small.I don't think you need to worry.

I was told if having unders it won't affect breastfeeding as the implant goes behind all the milk ducts etc. It does not interfere with any of the bits needed when breastfeeding.
Not sure about overs tho??

Hi hun, i asked my surgeon this and he said that it shouldnt effect breastfeeding as that was my concern. Although i have a 2 year old and like misf1 said not all women can, i tried for the first 6 weeks and i had nothing even when i pumped i had under an ounce. My princess latched on no problem and sucked, but i never had enough. Hope that helps hun, xxx

Hi Hun
I had two children post implants...I breast fed my first for 6 weeks but I did find it hard and didn't feel I was producing enough milk....this may have happened anyway though! My 2nd I didn't breast feed as I had to have an emergency reop whilst pregnant and couldn't face him latching on to my sensitive reop boobs!!!!!
I'm sure you'll be fine hun....and the breast feeding my first didn't affect the shape at all!

Re: Worried about BA affecting breast feeding :(
I found this from an article in the news babe -
Moms who have had cosmetic breast surgery
Breast
implants and reductions can affect future milk production by damaging
nerves and ducts, but it is still possible to breastfeed if the damage
is not very extensive. Your baby's weight gain should be
closely monitored in the first few weeks if you've had some sort of
breast augmentation surgery, however. Remember, too, that you can
mechanically supplement breastmilk with more breastmilk at the time of
suckling to ensure that your baby gets the best nutrician. Ask your lactation consultant.
Source HERE
I think this is saying to just check your baby is getting enough milk and gaining weight, if not you can always express some milk into bottles to top up.
I think most women express anyway?!! I know I did, my husband used to bottle feed my kids with my expressed milk 'cos I was just so worn out! Also if I had to go somewhere and I could't get back for the childs feed, it also helped my hubby bond with the kids too I felt and gave me an occasional break. So it's no different really to any other mother with a natural breast.

I really shouldnt worry about it until it happens. Even without implants it can sometimes be a challenge. My boys were a dream to feed, my daughter was so hungry and fed constantly my nipples were almost hanging off!!
this lasted 10days and I gave up! x
