Bra sizes are confusing me :(

Post by Gemski on 4th July 2011, 6:09 am

So I got measured in la senza as a 30e. Today I went to debenhams and was told a 30e also! However the 30 back feels real real tight on me. In both stores they only measure my rib cage and that's it! How do they know im a E cup in that case??

Also she got me to try a 32e if I felt the 30 was to tight. Surely that's bigger then the 30e tho??

Arrgghhhh I'm so confused guys. I can wear normal bra's from next week after seeing my ps and was gonna buy 3 basic bra's to last me a few months but I'm
So confused :( x

When I get fitted I'm always told I'm a 30FF but I too feel the 30 back is too tight so go for the 32 which still supportive without me fainting through lack of air! LOL

As you go up a band size though, you should come down a cup size, so I now wear a 32F babe.

If the cups were just fine on you hun but a 32 band feels more comfortable, then you should try a 32DD for sizing babe. That would be the same sized alternative sweetie. xx

At Debenhams I was measured round the band as a 32 and the assistant estimated my cup size as FF on sight - she was spot on and the 32FF fit me like a glove - but was too tight for me around the ribs!

Next day I was measured at M&S - they also said I was a 32 band and again assessed my cup size by sight rather than with a tape measure. They said 32G (but they don't do FF so G would be the nearest for them). They ended up fitting me with a 34E sports bra which I find is also too tight but they liked as the cup sat lower and so didn't rest on my incisions. They seemed a bit freaked out by my boobs and the fitter even got a second opinion from another member of staff!

I plan to get measured again in a couple of weeks (maybe at Bravissimo) and think I will probably end up a 32FF but will almost certainly wear a 34F as I cannot breath in a 32 and 32FF is a pretty hard size to find in some shops.

now measurments r rarely taken and th ladies do it on sight. im quite good at guessing bra sizes!! if the band size is too tight, go up a size.
with bars its a case of trail and error....good luck!! x

As long as the back doesn't ride up then you should be ok to go up a band size. If it leaves visible red marks then it's too tight

aww gemski i know how you feel :(
I know they say the dd is the same as the e (which it is) but when you go down a cup size its depressing and it makes you feel small again, ive always been a 34 my last sports bra was a 36 and was comfy, the lady in the shop said i look to small to be a 34 so she gave me a 32 e and it fits perfect, if anything a little tight, i have to have it on the last band, and the cups are a little snug... i do fit into my 32f tho, so im confused as i didnt have to go down a band size when i went up to an f??? just try a few on and see whats comfy for you hun.
I wish i went bigger to xx
