Admission time for a daycase ?!

Post by xokerryxo on 23rd March 2011, 7:35 am

Hi everyone,

Just got a letter from Nuffield hospital saying my admission time is 11am. Even though I am having a daycase !? Seems quite late I was expecting about 7am. What do you think? Xx

Mine said 11 am and I was a day case xx However when I got there they said I was booked as overnight and that they preferred me to stay shrug So I did xx

If it's important for you to be a day case I would give them a call xx

Thank you Kay, just noticed you 1 day post re op! Hope you are recovering well! I am confused, I guess it was the hospital that made that decision rather than transform in your case? I paid less with mybreast to be a daycase..... I can imagine being slapped with a big bill at the end if I stay :( I just tried to call teh hospital but guess they have all gone home by now in the offices. xx

I was originally a daycase but my surgeon changed me to a night case, but I checked in at 7.30am and had my BA at about 10.30am and was back in the room at 12ish. Make sure you clarify what you are as I had a huge battle with transform for the whole day/night thing and cost. Just stick to your guns with what you want, they don't rush you out either you can leave at your own pave at the end of the day you have had surgery so you need to be careful :) xx

Im with Transofrm and my letter also says check in at 11am, which bothered me as i've also paid for a daycase and it is written on the same letter that im a day case and to check in at 11. I just imagined i wouldnt check out until later in the evening. I've actually got my pre op tonight so i am going to double check with them! Secretly i'd like to stay over night (strange i know)

I won in the end, hun ultimatly it was there fault so they had to give me the night case for free :-). Its not what you need just before your op as its stressfull enough without worrying about money...

Make sure you have everything in writing. It all worked out for me and I have my boobies although they are killing me today :( its worth it, keep us posted as to what happens

Good luck xxx

Hi sorry to edge in on your talks but I didn't know where else to ask. Is it better to stay overnight so you can be monitored or in your opinion is it nice to be at home after your op?? Xxx

Thanks Sharon, Grrr so annoying guess I just prepare myself to stay in case I have too:( will stick to my guns 100% if this gets tricky. I just hope no more dramas! Glad everything was sorted in the end and you are relaxing now :)

No worries jade, I think it's totally different for everyone and what they feel most comfortable with. After some questioning I decided I wanted to be a daycase as you usually get operated earlier ( not for me now :( and get back to my own bed with all my bits and family around. But on the other hand staying over means you will be monitored over night and have someone to help you if needed it. Some companies make you stay over and some especially if u live close are happy for u to go home as along as all ok after the op.

Thanks. Hope you get what you want over the big issue of staying hun. I live in Liverpool and my surgery is in London so I definitely want to stay overnight. The train home would be horrible after the GA and if anything went wrong I'd be so far away. I think the surgery wants me to stay overnight so I'll just go with whatever the surgeon suggest. He knows best. But thanks for that Kerry xxx

Hi, sorry to hear about all the stuffing up and things that you gals had to go though, but good to hear that they gave it to you for free.

Just so you know mine was a day case and but didn't have to check in until 12.15pm and operation was booked for 1pm. They called my OH to come in at about 5 to come pick me up but as I was still nauseas and stuff i stayed until 6.30pm before I was allowed to leave

Hi Kerry,

They confirmed last night that i will be going down to surgery roughly around 2/3pm and should be sent home about 8/9ish..If for whatever reason things are running late then i will have to stay in hospital over night, but for no additional charge.

It is nice staying over, I don't think I could of coped with the journey home and that was only 45 miles for me, I was so spaced out and groggy I think I would of been sick on the way home. Its lovely as they take your blood pressure about 10 times haha. I did have mophine when I was out of it though :-) can just about recall talking to my surgeon haha, and I think I chatted C*** to my bf when he came and saw me.
