Don't worry tanyajade! The good news is you've got an early admission so it won't be as bad as you think. Not sure what to eat/drink. I wasn't being admitted til 12 and went out for dinner the night before and ate loads, lol.

Re: Food/drink the night before my BA
I was nothing to eat or drink from 11pm the night before and didn't find the hunger an issue but was very very thirsty in the morning and had a horrible dry mouth. I just rinsed my mouth out with water and spat out the water. Helped me not feel so thirsty.

I was thinking about that, swirling water around my mouth and spitting it out!

Apart from heavy boobs, I feel fine thanks - I am hoping this isn't the calm before the storm ... I just want to get my bandages off and have a proper look!

You have bandages? I think I'll just have dressings on the incisions, and have to wear a sports bra constantly. I bet you're dying for a nice bath aren't you!?
What size were/are you now? xx

Yes I have bandages and a compression strap and am having these removed on Friday. Yes, I could do with a proper wash, it feels a bit strange. I am wearing a 36DD sports bra, I was a 36B. I can't wait to get measured properly though and actually see them! Lol.

God how exciting! Have you actually seen them at all yet?
I'm hoping for a 34D, I've bought a variation of sports bra's in different sizes though.
I'm going to take before/after photos, did you ? xx

Yes I took some before pics, and no I've not seen them at all yet, apart from a pic my husband took of me in the sports bra before the bandages went on.

Tanyajade - I haven't heard anyone else say the same, but I was advised not to eat anything with garlic in it for 24 hours before my op... think because it thins your blood. It was in my info pack from the hospital. I had my op at 8am, so the hunger wasn't an issue for me - just had my normal dinner the night before and last drink of juice about 10pm before bed.

Thanks Minxie,
I'm hoping my op is an early one like yours was. I've never heard of the garlic thing, but I'll bear that in mind thank you xx

Re: Food/drink the night before my BA
Hey! You think you have it tough? I was admitted at one but operated on at four, and had slept through my allowed breakfast time of seven! Was so stressed! The best thing to drink is water. Tea and coffee, etc can actually dehydrate you. No gum, either! I would recommend something carby and comfort foodish to help you sleep. If you can stomach oily fish load up on sardines, etc, over the next few days, too. A friend told me its really good for skin before and after healing. x

I was told to avoid spicy food and garlic for a week or so pre-op. Not sure exactly why with the spicy food.

my admission time was 6am. I just ate normally the day before. I still had tiny sips of water during the night though as i didnt sleep well. Hardly at all though. Just enough to wet my whistle a bit

Hiya
My pack also says no garlic or alchol 48 hours before.
Went I was due to have my op a few weeks ago I had some mash, chop and veg for tea and then some toast about 10pm and a glass of water at midnight, I felt fine except when I got to the clinic and there were jugs of water on the reception, I got a sudden thirst and that was tough. But the op was cancelled and I have it all to do again, what joy!

Re: Food/drink the night before my BA
I was advised to avoid garlic for a few days before and a few days after the op too Minxie and also not to eat Chinese food this was all in my hospital pack aswell.
If it was me I would eat right up to the last possible minute lol I only say this because I missed my breakfast and couldn't eat after 6am or drink after 10am but my surgery was at 7pm! so I had to go all day. You will hopefully be lucky and be early so you won't have to starve for that long xx

Omg Peachy! I hope mine isn't that late!! I assumed having the early admission I'd have an early op. Maybe that's just wishful thinking! Thanks for your advice xx

I'm guessing the instruction to avoid chinese food is down to the salt content and MSG - I know I always end up thirsty during the night if I've eaten it...
