Rupture?!
Hi all, still researching my BA, I'm starting to get a bit freaked out by all the stories of rupturing I have read on this forum. On the sticky it says they are often harmless but I notice Cookie you say in your profile you had to have another op when your implant ruptured.
What are the side effects, can a rupture leave your breast deformed? Would your surgeon correct it for free if that happens or would you have to shall out for another op? Sorry, so many questions!!

Re: Rupture?!
You'll be reading so much about ruptures at the moment due to all the contraversy over PIP implants hun. These implants were faulty and thankfully no longer in production, but they have a very high rupture rate and since this has been highlighted, the ladies implanted with PIPs have been seeking to have the implants replaced as soon as possible either due to ruptures or because they'd rather have them out before the possibility of a rupture due to the high rupture rate occurs.
I didn't have PIPs, but I was unfortunate to have suffered a rupture, which for implants other than PIPS is rare.
If you are unfortunate to suffer a rupture and are within your after-care your clinic will cover the replacement of the implant and the surgery fees for replacement.
I was with Transform, I can't speak for other clinics. due to the rupture I did suffer some distortion to my breast that couldn't be corrected from a replacement (this does not happen to everyone who has a ruptured implant) and resulted in my also having to undergo an uplift in addition to the replacement, I had to personally fund the cost for this additional surgery myself at a cost of £3,500.
Now after all the surgery, my boobs look great and I'm recovering very well. xxx
